What is CAUSfest?
Does CAUSfest ring any bells, or mean anything specific to you? I imagine that it does not because this is a relatively new event for the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech.
CAUSfest is a recruitment event for student organizations related to the College of Architecture and Urban Studies.
It is being held this Wednesday in Burchard Plaza from 5 PM – 7 PM
All students regardless of year or major are welcome to come. It is a great opportunity for students to learn about ways they can get more engaged with the community and projects outside of class.
What have I been up to this summer? Well there have been many things. One thing I spent a lot of time on was preparing for the CUASfest event this year.
I have been the main driver of everything CAUSfest making sure that everything is coordinated and ready to operate.
The first half of the summer consisted of making an outline of everything needed to be done.
One of the biggest challenges was getting information about the various student organizations and their leaders.
Then there was scheduling the venue, getting the school faculty involved, and creating documents and power points for the event. I’ve sent over 100 emails and have made various connections across the college. This has been an enjoyable experience.
During the event there will be 15 student organizations present. They will be set up with tables, chairs, and a few other things.
Below is a list of all organizations that will be at CAUSfest:
• Alpha Rho Chi
• American Institute of Architecture Students
• American Society of Landscape Architects
• Architecture Student Forum
• Building Women In Construction
• CAUS Ambassador Program
• Design For America
• Industrial Design Society of America
• Interior Designers for Education and Sustainability
• International Archive of Women in Architecture
• National Organization of Minority Architecture Students
• Senior Class Gift 2022 Committee
• Studio Collective
• XYZ Gallery Student Art Association
This event will serve as a kick off event for all of the student organizations. If you are a student at Virginia Tech, I hope to see you there!
